Community fairs as platforms for urban greenery and climate change adaptation in Accra, Ghana
This study evaluated the 2025 Flower Community Fair in Accra, Ghana, as an informal learning platform for climate adaptation using a mixed-methods survey of 189 attendees alongside qualitative observations. The analysis measured participant demographics, their perceived relevance of home gardening, and their self-reported intentions to adopt greening practices after the event.
Why it matters — It demonstrates how localized, community-based events can convert existing environmental interest into explicit intentions for domestic climate adaptation in a rapidly urbanizing African context.
Caveat: The findings rely on self-reported intentions from a self-selected group of attendees rather than documented, long-term behavioral changes.
